a tumblr that i use more often, containing mostly photos. i don’t feel obligated to say anything there, like i do here. i love it very much. here.

ines de la fressange in her own pink room. she was photographed by todd selby, who takes photos “of interesting people and their creative spaces.”
i don’t have anything to say about decorating the person today, because decorating a room is what i’m in love with this week. these are some of my favourite inspiration photos from the last few days, that i’ve found instead of studying for cell & molecular biology.
you can right-click each image to view it in a new tab to see the full-sized photo.

i’m in love with pale pink rooms & french-style furniture. there’s nothing more i’d like right now than a louis XIV style loveseat to reupholster and call my own…

do want: a lucite coffee table. it just works in a room full of busy furniture. unfortunately, it seems like a lot of other people want one too, so expensive.

curtain closet. with my house, i’ll never be able to have a walk-in closet, but it’s an alternative i can deal with.

so beautiful! i think what i’m really craving is just a little girl’s sort of room… somewhere to sleep and feel pretty. i haven’t had a real girly room probably since my purple room in grade 5. my current one is blue and it’s getting to me. i live in a tiffany box.

one thing i won’t compromise on: having herringbone flooring. i. love. it. especially in a light maple shade. you can see it by clicking on my flooring link at the end of the post. i’ll also have a fireplace to work with, so i’m thinking of painting it. that is, unless my parents take it out… there are concerns that there’s mould growing in the basement (which i’m renovating to relocate my room). i hope not!

over the holidays, i plan on building a variation of jean pelle’s bubble chandelier (click the link to see pelle’s DIY instructions), i’ll share the results for sure. i’m so excited! for those of you who are not familiar, here it is:

not only is it homemade, but can be done for under $75 too. jean sells them on etsy for $300-500, for those who are less DIY-inclined.
i’ll keep you posted with my progress of renovation… if i make any progress at all :)

INSPIRATION:
seems like i get around to posting here about once a week. so infrequently. i apologize about that, really. this week i get to talk about something to do with myself, and not some random crazycool thing that i just want to share with you.
for the past year i have been involved with a project that is pretty close to my heart: i was the artistic director of the r4 fashion show that took place last night (nov 20) in toronto.
the show focused on eco-friendly & sustainable fashion. the event was powered by bullfrog power, there were no hard copies of tickets, we sold only organic wine & beer - basically every detail that could have been considered WAS considered, and we made sure it was “green” in whatever way we could make that happen. our runway was constructed from bamboo, and had sides of organic voile.
we made this canopy above the side of the runway with re-used bamboo that the UW school of architecture students had left over from an installation:

there were loads of cool people there, like kelli drennan (founder of fashion takes action), the f-list, and toronto fashion incubator (TFI). even evan biddell (winner of project runway canada) was there - he was a member of our jury that judged the student design competition. and, of course, there were the bloggers, and my good friend milo reinhardt of cloud mechanics. everyone was fabulous. i can’t wait for my next chance to meet them again.

since i promised some pictures, here’s me and some friends: (l-r) nataliya, me, LP, & LC. trying my best to not look totally insane after an entire day of setting up and freaking out.
there is a startling lack of post-worthy photos of me & my outfit from the show… and due to general business/not being able to carry around my camera all night, i totally failed to get photos of other people’s outfits.
so, instead i leave you with a look that we saw come down the runway from heidi ackerman, who is so talented. these boot/pant/trouser things remind me a lot of the prada fall 2009 hip waders.

now it’s time to catch up on sleep… and lots of it.
My cousin was telling me about this and I felt that tumblr was a great way to reach more people. I know I am pretty far from here, but I know I have/many people have followers in Canada! Please reblog this. She has been missing since Thursday night (Jan 28th) and the police are saying that she was abducted. Please reblog and be on the lookout! Some of you may see no point if you don’t live there but one of your followers might have seen her or might live in the area (or some of their followers)! Please, everyone, reblog.
It takes .2 seconds to hit reblog and post this. I think it is more than worth the effort.
stars are so inspiring

i love wannabeabear.

caylery @ weheartit, i started one
i don’t have that much to say this week. juste quelques photos pour vous. i made some time to catch up on spring 2010 ready-to-wear (i thought i’d just have to essentially skip out on this season, school is so busy!), i have to say my favourite show wassssssss…
drumroll please.
…
LANVIN.
not one of the traditional houses that i love unconditionally, but i think my relationship with lanvin is changing. i love love LOVED this entire collection.

& i know that prorsum pre-fall 2010 got a lot of hate. people said it was boooooring. but i loved it; maybe that’s why? i love simple things, and the collection was so elegant. the colours were so sombre, the fit of everything was so marvelous.
and… the shoes. THE SHOES.

need i say more?
love you all!
before i get to the real content of the post, i have to say HOLY MOLY, was i the only person who hyperventilated when seeing the alexander mcqueen “armadillo” shoes in action in lady gaga’s bad romance video? overreaction? i don’t think so. that video was like one huge mcqueen commercial, and i loved every minute of it. (see the video here.)
so, anyways, lately i’m trying to use jewelry more. er, at least i’m thinking about doing that. i’m just not a jewelry type of person, besides throwing on a necklace to pull an outfit together, just to have something there.

i’m a huge fan of this 3.1 phillip lim bracelet, though, because it’s more interesting than ornamental. plus, i LOVE yellow gold. gold anything. nothing anyone ever says can change that. love love love.
after wearing the same disgusting keds all summer (nothing against keds, mine are just smelly and covered in paint) i’m finally starting to re-stock shoes as well. bought new black flats, new moccasins, moccasin boots (late to the party, i know), new matte black leather pumps & patent black pumps, and, my personal favourite! the jeffrey campbell “class” bootie:

i’m totally in love with them, and trying to figure out some way to work them into like every outfit. unfortunately, our varsity jackets showed up this week as well, so i’m stuck every day in between wanting to dress up like a normal (hopefully fashionable) person, and wanting to wear leggings/moccasins, just because i can. hoping i can find the strength not to go to the dark side.
love you all!
